Please, only fill out the above form if you have talked with the Parish Clergy.

Please note, the the Sponsor (Godparent, Nounos or Nouna) must be a Canonical Orthodox Christian in good standing.

If the sponsor is not a parishioner from the Greek Orthodox Church of Greater Salt Lake, he or she should obtain a Letter of Good Standing from his or her parish priest and email to clergy @ gocslc.org (copy the email manually and then remove the spaces, this is to prevent spam and phishing misuse).

Infant Baptism & Chrismation Checklist

Provided by the Sponsor (Godparent)

  • 1 white twin sheet

  • 1 white towel

  • 2 white hand towels

  • Olive oil (should be a large unused/unopened bottle of extra virgin olive oil. It should not be scented or flavored)

  • Bar of white soap

  • White baptismal gown or outfit – usually provided by the sponsor

  • Cross

  • 1 large candle for the godparents

  • 1 small candle for the family

Optional:

  • Small candles for siblings and or cousins

  • Witness pins (martyrika)

Adult Baptism & Chrismation Checklist

Provided by the sponsor (Godparent)

  • 1 large white towel

  • 2 white hand towels

  • Olive oil (should be a large unused/unopened bottle of extra virgin olive oil. It should not be scented or flavored)

  • Bar of white soap

  • White Baptismal robe for wearing into the font – may be provided by the sponsor or borrowed

  • Cross

  • 1 large candle for newly illumined person

  • 1 small candle for godparent

  • Witness pins (martyrika)

New dignified bathing suit or shorts to wear under robe (not to be used again)

Something to wear on the feet after stepping out of the font (disposable sandals not to be worn again)

A new set of new clothes to wear after baptism – these clothes should also be worn to church through the next three Liturgies after the baptism. One main item of the clothing must be white for the vesting.

1 small candle for godparent
