Altar Servers, Chanters & Sextons
Altar Servers (boys) , Chanters & Sextons, are a time-honored tradition in the Orthodox Church. It is both an honor and a privilege to work along side the Holy unseen Angels to aide the Priests and Parish in harmonious worship. Creating a collective worship that reaches Heaven.
Altar Servers
Current prerequisites for serving in the Altar is that you are Baptized and Chrismated an Orthodox Christian. You should be an active member of the Church and are physically prepared to stand for long periods of time. The Clergy will gladly teach and train any servant young or old to perform the duties of an Altar Server.

Chanters
An Orthodox chanter, or Psaltis, serves an important liturgical ministry within the life of the Church. Standing at the chant stand, or analogion, the chanter helps lead the faithful in prayer through the hymns, responses, psalms, and appointed readings of the Church’s services. Rather than performing for an audience, the chanter’s role is to support the worship of the entire congregation and to help create a prayerful atmosphere in which the words of the services can be clearly heard, understood, and offered to God. Sexton/Neokoros
Unlike a priest, deacon, reader, or formally appointed chanter, the Sexton/Neokoros is ordinarily a lay position rather than an ordained clerical office. There generally isn't a seminary requirement or formal theological degree. Those wishing to serve as a Neokoros should be Orthodox Christians in good standing, demonstrate reliability, reverence and discretion, and receive the blessing of the parish priest. Training will be provided in the proper preparation and care of the church, sanctuary, sacred furnishings and liturgical supplies. For more detailed information click below.
